In 1929 in the Mosel Valley, Germany, two enthusiasts of essential oils, winemaker Franz Otto Klein and his wife Edith, a pharmacologist, embarked on a labour of love, to create the world’s finest therapeutic oil. Using botanical extracts from their personal collection – both distilled from the herbs in their ancient monastic garden and gathered on their international travels – the Kleins spent two years tirelessly experimenting with blend after blend until finally achieving a formulation with the preternatural properties they sought, and an intoxicating fragrance that would enchant generations to come.
